NexGen Hearing: Kelowna

The Kelowna NexGen Hearing clinic provides general audiology services such as diagnostic hearing tests, tinnitus assessments, and hearing aid fittings, amongst other services. We also provide specialized hearing aids which are not available at most hearing clinics such as bone anchored hearing aids BAHA) and Lyric hearing aids. Colin VanBergen works closely with local ear, nose and throat physicians when traditional hearing aids are no longer appropriate or beneficial.

We believe strongly in not only meeting our patients’ expectations but in exceeding their expectations. NexGen Hearing in Kelowna is one of the few clinics in the Okanagan to employ an Audiometric Technician. Our Audiometric Technician, Lisa Gunn, is well recognized in the industry as being exceptional in what she does – from troubleshooting problem hearing aids, to installing assistive listening devices in peoples’ homes, to providing monthly hearing aid servicing at most area retirement homes. Lisa is truly a special person and cares deeply about helping each patient any way she can. The care and time spent with others is truly appreciated by all she serves which is evident by the frequent thank you cards, gifts of flowers, as well as cakes given to her from appreciative patients.

We do not believe that good hearing is an option available only to those who have the financial means to afford them. Because of this we have a hearing aid donation program whereby hearing impaired patients who do not have the financial means to afford hearing aids will be provided with appropriate hearing aids at no cost to them at all. We sincerely want to help those with hearing needs in any way possible.

The Kelowna clinic of NexGen Hearing is located in the heart of the city and services people from all corners of Kelowna – from the Mission, to Rutland, to Glenmore and out to Lake Country.  Colin and Lisa have been serving the needs of the hearing impaired population in Kelowna for 24 combined years and have grown close to many of their patients.  Over the years they have served many interesting local figures who have helped shape Kelowna into what it is today including pioneering families, politicians, land developers, and business people.  In some cases they have served three generations of the same family. They are proud to call Kelowna their home and to contribute to the local people who are in need of better hearing.

Colin VanBergen
M.Sc. Aud, RAUD

Registered Audiologist & Owner

Colin graduated from Trinity Western University in 1996 with a Bachelors of Arts degree and from UBC in 2000 with his Masters of Science degree in Audiology. Upon graduating he and his wife, Lisa, moved to the Kelowna area where he has been working as an audiologist.

After working as an area manager for a national hearing company for the majority of his career, Colin decided to use his experience and expertise and open up his own hearing clinic with NexGen Hearing in 2013. Colin has always strived to offer his patients the best care possible and has offered not only traditional hearing solutions but non-traditional hearing devices as well. As a result Colin has been the only audiologist in the Okanagan Valley to fit patients with specialized bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA), as well as the first audiologist in the valley to be trained in the Lyric hearing aid.

Lisa Gunn
Audiometric Technician

Lisa has been involved in the hearing industry since 2003 when she came onboard as an audiometric technician under the ownership of Marke Hambley. She is excited to once again be working with him, as her greatest honor was in receiving the “Marke Hambley” award in 2010 for her exceptional contribution in the hearing industry both internally and externally.
