NexGen Hearing: Ucluelet
NexGen Hearing in Ucluelet is a full service hearing clinic, focusing on comprehensive hearing evaluations for those patients in need. We feel a fully informed patient will be able to make a comfortable decision on how to treat their hearing disability. The mission of our clinic is to be known as the “go to” place for hearing related information and advice. My personal mission is to educate the public that hearing loss is a medical issue, should be treated as such with regular checkups, reviews, etc.
Customer service is a passion with NexGen staff. We want to “WOW” our clients with exceptional service they won’t get elsewhere. I encourage patients not to be shy about voicing concerns, or complaints. The relationships we build with our patients are about trust and communication.
NexGen Hearing provides hearing services from the Ucluelet Medical Center on scheduled Mondays each month. The Ucluelet Medical Clinic is located in Ucluelet on Peninsula Road next to the Co-op Grocery store. As the next closest hearing services are in Port Alberni, approximately 1 ½ hours away, we are pleased to offer clients living in the Ucluelet/Tofino area of the west coast a more convenient option for their hearing care.
Ucluelet is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, known for long sandy beaches, great sport fishing, surfing, whale watching and storm watching. Tourism, fishing and forestry are the main sources of employment in the area.

John L. Charley, R.H.I.P.
Registered Hearing Instrument Practitioner & Owner
After a successful 17 year career in the Medical Equipment and Service industry, John changed his career path when he became licensed as a Hearing Instrument Practitioner in 1998. After honing his skills in hearing rehabilitation in the Vancouver area, John and his wife, Sherry, moved to Vancouver Island settling in Qualicum Beach in 2005.
Upon moving to Vancouver Island, John was hired by the then Island Hearing (now Connect Hearing) to manage the Qualicum Beach and Port Alberni clinics. He was soon to be promoted as an Area Manager, overseeing the Island Hearing clinics in Qualicum, Port Alberni and Parksville.
John’s consummate focus on customer service has been a mainstay throughout his working career. He values the relationships he establishes with his patients, and will do everything possible to satisfy their hearing needs.
Although John is currently providing hearing care services to my clients in Parksville and Port Alberni, the lack of local services in the Ucluelet/Tofino area prompted him to establish a monthly clinic in Ucluelet.
The physicians at the Ucluelet Medical Center have kindly allowed him space to operate his clinic on scheduled Mondays when the Medical Center is closed. Hearing loss is an important issue to John, and by providing local services, he hopes to bring better hearing to individuals in need on a more timely basis.
