Junior Accountant

Full time: Victoria, BC

Are you ready to put your accounting skills to the test? Are you an organized team player?

Working as part of our Accounting team, you will be using your billings and allocations experience to ensure effective, efficient maintenance and accurate processing of accounts payable/receivable transactions including reviewing, verifying, auditing, reconciling and posting of invoices and expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly management company and intercompany allocations, invoicing, and reconciliations

  • Preparing journal entries and accounting reconciliations to support production of monthly and annual financial statements

  • Bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Monitor bank accounts

  • Coding, allocating and entering all transactions into the accounting system

  • Processing supplier invoices and accounts payable, including expense reports

  • Preparing customer invoicing and accounts receivable

  • Corresponding with vendors, departments and customers; responding to inquiries

  • Perform filing and general administrative tasks

  • Assisting with month end closing and producing monthly reports

  • Performing other related accounting duties as requested.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate about accounts payable matters with people with varying levels of financial knowledge

  • High level of accuracy in performing calculations, data entry and reviewing of details

  • Strong knowledge of the Accounts Payable cycle

  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures and internal controls

  • Proficiency in data entry and management

  • Excellent computer skills especially MS Office

  • Completion of a recognized college program in accounting, bookkeeping or related field and/or equivalent work experience

  • CPA students will be considered

  • Minimum 2 – 4 years’ experience as a financial bookkeeper/accountant

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Multi-corporate experience preferred

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

  • Immaculate attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team.
