NexGen Hearing Kerrisdale is our full service and full-time hearing aid clinic located in the heart of Kerrisdale on 41st Avenue, near Vine Street. Utilizing state of the art diagnostic audiology, we can detect hearing loss as early as possible. Dr. Katarina Vavrovicova

Dr. Katarina Vavrovicova is a clinical doctor of audiology trained at the prestigious audiology department at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, USA. She focuses on restoring hearing and communication with a passion for helping people and improving their well-being. She recognizes the importance of being able to hear well, and how the quality of one’s hearing can have a direct influence on a person’s social life, physical well-being, and emotional state.
Dr. Katarina Vavrovicova obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Bloomsburg university of PA. Her background in psychology has provided her with a solid foundation for counseling her patients and to lead them into positive outcomes of overcoming their hearing loss and help them improve their communication strategies. Her clinical doctoral degree in audiology enables her to work thoroughly and methodically to identify her patients’ communication needs so she may best intervene to improve their hearing and communication abilities. She recognizes the importance of education in the aural rehabilitation process and likes to pass her knowledge and experience on to her patients, students and future audiologists. She has also volunteered for the Pacific Assistance Dog Society (PADS) where she helped raise puppies for hearing and physically impaired people. Katarina is a clinical supervisor for the University of British Columbia and Grant MacEwan University. She also participates in ongoing clinical research for Vancouver General Hospital. In addition, she is involved in the community, teaching the public about hearing health. She is certified by Canadian Academy of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA) as well as registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia. Dr. Vavrovicova has over 14 years of clinical experience and knowledge of the latest hearing aid technology.

Kirstin Chaaban is part of the team at Dr. Vavrovicova’s Kitsilano and Kerrisdale clinics. She is a graduate of the Grant MacEwan University Hearing Aid Practitioner program. Kirstin has three tuxedo cats whom she will happily tell you all about if you ask!
